Who we are
The Pentarch Group commenced business in 1984, combining the expertise of five individuals with diverse commercial backgrounds. In the early 1990s, the group’s primary focus was on three key businesses - representing major international manufacturers of military hardware, exporting containerised hay to Japan, and exporting softwood logs to South Korea - through its Industrial, Forestry and Agricultural divisions.
While the common thread across all three businesses was international trade, each has changed structure, target markets and product range. The group’s key strategy was to vertically integrate within each business model, aiming to secure greater control of aspects of the supply chain and provide broader options across the eventual trade.
- Pentarch Agricultural significantly increased its hay exporting business following a strategic investment in a state-of-the-art hay processing facility in Narrogin, Western Australia. Export markets for oaten hay and cottonseed have been developed into Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China, with hay sourced from the east and west coasts of Australia. The division also provides storage and packing services to grain traders from its facility in Narrogin.
- Pentarch Forestry log export operations has led to involvement in break bulk ship chartering, forest harvesting, inland transportation and merchandising logs through an innovative logistics model. This model offers forest owners a viable export alternative to domestic processes, which were previously unavailable in Australia. Pentarch Forestry has exported softwood pine from all Australian states and territories and expanded into forestry operations in New Zealand.
The Pentarch Group continues to use its specialised skill base to grow and diversify its commercial enterprises through research and development and identifying new market opportunities in the industries in which it operates.
